Greyhound Games

Location: The Outlet Shoppes at Gettysburg - GiG Information Tent in Vendor Area
Time: 2:00pm - 3:00pm
Come join in the greyhound games. We have selected a few games for you and your greyhound to play. A prize will be awarded for the winner of each game. Here are a couple of the games:

  • Greyhound Speed Dressing Contest – Have you ever played dress up as a kid. Well, this time you get to play it with your greyhound. The game will consist of a team round and an individual round. The object is to dress your greyhound in a shirt, hat and socks and move from the dressing area to the removal spot in the shortest amount of time.
  • Bobbing for treats – Do you have a chow hound. Well let's put them to the test. This game consists of a water bowl filled with water. When we say go, the human drops some treats in the water bowl. The fastest dog to "bob" for the treats and eat them up and have their human say that they did it wins.
  • Waggiest Tail Contest – To show you it is not what you say but how you say it, we are having a contest to see who can get their dog to wag its tail (or behind for the tailess). The curve ball we are going to throw at you was that you can only use vegetable names along with your dogs name and can't use treats. So here is an example, "Sparky, broccolli! Carrots, Sparky!" In this game it is not what you say but how you say it. Lots of fun, happiness and emotion will be the traits of a winner.

Fun Run

Location: Gettysburg Recreation Park
Time: 10:00am - Noon
Will you be driving home on Sunday? What better way to burn off a little steam than to let your greyhound run in a fenced ball field with a few of the other greyhounds.

Use the field at your own risk. This should not be taken lightly. The field offers an opportunity for attending dogs to run in a safely fenced area. All owners who decide to use the field or participate in the Fun Run understand they do so at their own risk. Triangle Greyhound Society and Keystone Greyhounds are not liable for any accident or injury that may occur. Owners accept full responsibility for participation. You will be required to sign a release to this effect. We reserve the right to deny access to any dog that we feel may get hurt by participating in the fun run.

Following rules apply:

  • Use the field at your own risk.
  • All greyhounds MUST wear muzzles.
  • Only greyhounds are allowed on the field.
  • No lures, squawkers or other training devices designed to excite the dogs or insight pack behavior are allowed on or near the field.
  • If a dog gets excited and aggressive, it is the owner’s responsibility to leash the dog until it settles down.
  • New dogs entering the field should be on leash until introductions to other dogs on the field have established order.
  • Dog nails should be short. We will check this.
