The best way to get ready for the event and ensure that you have a great time is to gather as much information as you can from those that are attending the event and those that attended in the past.  Forums allow you to communicate with other attendees.  You have a number of options to get ready.
Forums
We generally post in two forum hosting sites, Greytalk and Greyhounds Make Great Pets.  We have no preference to one over the other and we are grateful to both for letting us post information about our event on their site.

These thread based forums allow what many call the "chatty" style of thread based discussion. This is where you can find who is going and who is not, discuss your plans, and post questions for experienced GIG attendees to answer. This is where we would like most of the chat to occur. Most people view these forums online instead of through email.

Greytalk.com hosts GIG related forums.  We have posted here for many years.  We have found that everyone is courteous and helpful.
